Public Works

The Department of Public Works provides many of the basic services that affect the daily lives of everyone who lives in the City of Chiefland. Things we take for granted such as pure drinking water and well paved streets are just a few of the responsibilties of our Public Works Department. The Public Works Department is organized into 6 areas: Streets, Water, Recreation, Fleet Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, and Grounds Maintenance.

Public Works is staffed with a trained work force of eleven employees under the supervision of Water and Facilities Manager Shane Keene. The departments key responsibility is:  the design construction and maintenance of the City’s infrastructures including water, streets drainage structures, sidewalks, parks, and city buildings.

THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT IS CLOSED ON FRIDAYS. IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY OUTSIDE OUR NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS – CALL THE CHIEFLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT 352-493-6777 OR THE LEVY COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE 352-486-5111.
