City Manager

The City of Chiefland is served by many major highways including U.S. 19/98, U.S. 129 and U.S. Alt. 27, has become the retail and service hub for the Tri-County area (Levy, Gilchrist and Dixie counties). Located only a few miles from Manatee Springs and the historic Suwannee River, with the Nature Coast State Trail traversing the center of the community, Chiefland is also well known as a tourist and sportsman’s destination point.

Incorporated in 1913, Chiefland has a five member City Commission, who are elected to two-year terms on a City-wide basis. The City Manager, Police Chief and Fire Chief report directly to the Commission.

The Commission meets in regular session the second and fourth Monday’s of each month, beginning at 6:00 P.M. Public input is always encouraged and is considered a partner to successful planning and policy-making.

In our City, elected officials look to the future while devising a vision for the community, while qualified and dedicated City employees provide vital services to the citizens.  It is truly a great place to live and work and raise a family.

Chiefland is the “Gem of the Suwannee Valley”.
